Roughly fifty percent of all music sales in this country consist of “retro” albums. Older titles that don’t get played all that much anymore are making a comeback in a big way! Some due to people replacing a favorite album in a newer format, some are new users who have had a taste of an artist on the radio and want more. In fact, sales of “vinyl” format record albums is on the rise as more people look for a classic experience as they enjoy their music.
There are many artists that we have enjoyed in the past but we hardly think about if they don’t get a lot of radio play. Consider how many artists you rarely think about even though they dominated the airwaves for a time. Enigma brought the concept of combining Gregorian chant with a hypnotic dance beat or Alice Cooper, Godfather of Shock Rock. Some artists are getting a retro-redo like Pink Floyd as part of the Rockabye Baby! series. Here are some titles that will hopefully jog your memory and have you singing along. And remember, once you are in the catalog looking at a favorite artist you can do a genre search to find more albums and artists!
